Carshalton Village Morris Dancers
Sunday 17th October
I arrived around 2.30pm in the afternoon and I wasn’t disappointed. The sun had finally appeared and the dancers were in full swing as passersby gathered slowly. Nearby there here were a few of the Black Swan Morris Dancers taking a well deserved break outside in the bar area of the Charles Cryer Theatre. They all happily posed for me and I will share more photos here as I upload them.
The Black Swan Dancers are a merry bunch and an incredible group of dancers/performers. Each year I try to capture some images from one of their street performances, focusing on more individual and group portraits. The one featured above is a particular favourite of mine for many reasons, this performer was captivating as he was completely in the zone whilst he performed and the expression on his face and those blue eyes combined with his costume makes this image for me . I will try and get his name and post it alongside the image I have here - but for now I have called him RED or maybe it should be Blue Eyes?
I have been local to this village for many years, its a great place to visit as the park and ponds in the village are pretty special. A lot of my earlier photos were taken in Carshalton around the ponds and park as I developed my interest in photography. There were always great opportunities to practice capturing images of the swans, ducks and geese and the occasional sunset and sunrise.
I was happy to see a few people I recognised as the Black Swan Morris Dancers performed- including the legend that is David Dudley (Black Swans Morris Dancer). A real gentleman and a fabulous performer :) Thank you for posing for me again David.
