Early morning shoots in Westminster are becoming my ‘thing’

This morning, I woke up slightly later than usual for a morning shoot and unsure if I would get to Westminster in time for the blue hour. I knew there wasn’t going to be a golden sunrise-as the forecast said it was cloudy, but that brief window when the sky is a beautiful blue as the sunrises in the morning is usually a dead cert. And it adds that extra touch of drama to photos.

I nearly missed it but I was in position at the entrance to Westminster Underground Station just in time for the last 10 mins or so to catch some of that blue sky-not as deep a blue as I would have liked but still okay.

At this time of the morning, there aren’t that many commuters around but you can always spot Westminster’s Police out on the beat, patrolling the streets with a lovely morning greeting when they spot me. I must say this is probably the safest part of London in the early hours for me - if you want to take photos in the early hours, there’s no trouble, very few people insight and plenty of lovely #Westminster #Policeofficers :)

I managed to capture a few pics of the station sign with London Bus Trails in the back ground that I’m happy with and have posted here. So I packed up and set off over towards Westminster Bridge.

I wasn’t expecting anything new but as I got across the bridge I could see that Big Bens face was revealed, with scaffolding still on the main body but the face was revealed in the right direction for photos. Yes! It didn’t take me long to set up my tripod and I managed to get some landscape images of Big Ben-Westminster Abbey and London Buses in the frame of some stills and a video. Whoohoooo!

It really is something I would recommend, get up early-even if its just for one morning and head over to Westminster with or without a camera. Its magical even if you don’t get a golden sunrise (gold) its still pretty special.
